This year’s targets are children in education in Ireland and abroad. Irish children in need are those who are not participating in mainstream education, whereas in Africa we help those who have no access to education at all, mainly girls.

With these following projects we help to “keep hope alive”:

2.Sodo II project area of Oromia, Ethiopia, Construction of four classroom blocks for a new post primary school in the Kela School Development Project (Self Help Africa)

3.Dublin’s streetworkers for young homeless,Ireland, Fr Peter McVerry SJ has campaigned tirelessly for the rights of homeless young people for more than 30 years. We support a social centre for children at high risk to accompany their school attendance and learning abilities. (Fr. McVerry Trust)

4.Dublin, Limerick, Waterford, Ireland, Sr. Stanislaus Kennedy responds to the needs of homeless women in Dublin since 1983. The agency provided street work services to young people, advice, advocacy, information and help with finding a home and a warm and welcoming place to meet and have a low-cost meal (Focus Ireland).

5.Project “in petto”: only if there are enough funds raised: Rural Education, Kenya, Nyanza Rural Education Program for Orphans and Vulnerable Children.
